Question by Cheryl B: When did you as parents give your adolescent the "sex" talk?

How old were your children when you gave them the sex talk? Did you wait until they asked questions, or beat them to the chase? I have a 10 year old daughter and I want her to learn from me, rather than from the kids at school. At least one girl in her class (5th grade) is already bragging that she has kissed her boyfriend.
Can you believe that??? 5th grade! Why would they be kissing so early? Surely they don't have raging hormones yet!
Anyhow...when is the best time to talk about the birds and the bees????
I've already had the "period" talk with her :o)

I think now is a good time! Obviously if she is talking to you about friends kissing (hey, at least she is communicating with you!) do it now. You don't have to get super in depth but certainly ask her what she knows (or thinks she does) and go from there.
